Life and Times Stays Undefeated in Aqueduct Romp
Justify’s Life And Times (4g Justify x Silky Serenade, by Unbridled’s Song) went a perfect two-for-two on Saturday with a 6 ¾ length Allowance romp at Aqueduct.
Going off as the heavy favorite in the one-mile dirt race, Life and Times sprinted to the lead out of the gate before another horse wrangled the lead from him as they exited the chute. Life and Times was happy to race just a neck behind that runner until reclaiming the lead in the turn.
Joze Lezcano barely moved on his mount, looking behind him a few times in the stretch but never asking Life and Times for more. Coasting home wasn’t a problem for the gelding’s lead with him crossing the line 6 ¾ lengths in front with the third placed runner over eight lengths behind him.
A homebred for Michael Tabor, the Todd Pletcher trainee has won his two races by a combined 12 ½ lengths.
Life and Times is a half-brother to the Gr.1 winner Restless Rider and four other winners out of the winning Silky Serenade. That mare is a half-sister to the Gr.2 winner Private Vow with their dam producing four winners overall from seven to race.
Silky Serenade has a 2-year-old Justify filly to come as well.
Life and Times is one of 230 Northern Hemisphere-foaled winners for Justify with 44 of those winning stakes and nine winning Gr.1 races from four crops of racing age.
