Mendelssohn Colt Registers First G1 Victory

It was a Group I winner for Mendelssohn in Chile on Saturday when Created (2c Mendelsohn x Cascada Surena, by Rock of Gibraltar) won the Group I Clasico Alberto Vial Infante.

The juvenile broke well in the one-mile turf race before setting into midpack as the first half of the field opened a few lengths on those behind them. The field bunched back together around the turn and in the stretch, Created steadily closed on those front runners.

He collared the leader inside the final furlong before getting the best of that runner to win by 2 ¾ lengths.

Trained by Patricio Baeza for Stud Marenga, Created has proven to be one to watch with four wins in five starts, including three group wins.

Created is following a family tradition with the colt out of Group I winner Cascada Surena, who also produced the stakes winning Cest Jolie from her four winners from four to race. Other Grade I winners on the page include champion Caserta Mia, champion Vamo a Galupiar, Cambridge, and Viejos Tiempos.

This is the second worldwide Grade I winner for Mendelssohn who has registered 35 stakes winners and 80 stakes performers in 10 different countries.
