Mendelssohn At Stables

Mendelssohn Duo Registers G2 Exacta

It was a Grade II exacta in Chile for Mendelssohn on Sunday when My Way (3c Mendelssohn x Roseline, by Mastercraftsman) won the Group II Gran Clasico Coronacion over Autumn Day.

The 1 ¼ mile turf race saw My Way bolt to the lead out of the gate and race a few lengths in front of the field while Autumn Day took up a place as the back marker. No runners even attempted to challenge My Way throughout much of the race and he had over five lengths on them in the stretch run.

It looked like My Way would be a clear winner of the race, but Autumn Day made a huge run in the final furlong to close the gap to half a length at the line. Those two were much the best with third placed Bridge seven lengths back.

Trained by Patrico Baeza for RT Stud, My Way was securing his first stakes victory and fourth win overall.

The colt was bred by Haras Don Alberto out of the four-time winning Roseline. That mare is one of seven winners from seven to race out of Grade I placed Renta Absoluta, who also produced the Group III placed Campanitas.

Mendelssohn is the sire of 12 Chilean stakes winners and 21 Chilean stakes performers with the group led by Group I winner Dia de Otono.
