Minorinconvenience (Mendelssohn) Wins Funny Cide

Mendelssohn’s Minorinconvenience Easy Winner of Funny Cide

Minorinconvenience (2c Mendelssohn x Skyler’s Lil Cutie, by Mission Impazible) won his second straight race in the Funny Cide Stakes at Saratoga on Wednesday.

Impressively breaking his maiden by 10 ½ lengths last time out, the juvenile was ready for this six-furlong dirt race from the start. He pushed the leader from his spot on the outside and made sure that one stayed honest in the early stages.

Moving even closer in the stretch, he was in front going into the final furlong and it was easy going from there.

Minorinconvenience won by four lengths with the third placed runner 6 ¼ lengths behind him at the wire to take his combined margin of victory to 14 ½ lengths between the victories.

Trained by co-owner Amelia Green, the Steve Barbrino-bred is also owned by Amanda Gillman and Upland Flats Racing.

The colt is the first foal out of winning Mission Impazible mare Skyler’s Lil Cutie, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Cloud Control. This family also includes Grade I winner Nereid, Grade II winner and Grade I placed Sun and Snow and Fisich and stake winners and Grade I placed Viva Majorca and Sea Queen.

It was the third stakes winner of the Saratoga meet for Mendelssohn, who also saw Awesome Czech win the Yaddo Stakes last week and Mommy’s turn win the Suzie O’Cain in July.
