Tiz Secure Another Impressive Maximum Security Runner

It was an impressive debut winner for champion Maximum Security on Saturday when Tiz Secure (3c Maximum Security x Tough Tiz’s Sis, by Tiznow) romped at Santa Anita for owner-breeders Karl Watson and Paul Weitman to earn Thoroughbred Daily News Rising Star honors.

Starting his career going six furlongs on the dirt, Tiz Secure wasn’t bothered about not getting the lead early and stalked that one from an outside position. He used that spot to challenge on the turn and by the time they entered the stretch he took command of the race.

Asked to pull away by jockey Juan Hernandez, Tiz Secure complied to win by 4 ¾ lengths at the line with the third placed runner six lengths back.

Tiz Secure is the second generation to be trained by Bob Baffert with his dual Grade 1 winning dam Tough Tiz’s Sis also a Baffert trainee. Tough TIz’s Sis has six winners from 10 to race with the group also including Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Tiz Midnight, who produced Grade II winner and Grade I placed Midnight Memories.

Another Tough Tiz’s Sis daughter produced multiple Grade III winner Rocket Can with a third daughter producing Grade III-placed American Blaze.

Maximum Security is now the sire of 21 winners, 10th best of all second crop sires with his runners including two stakes performers.
