$1.4million Colt Top Seller for Wootton Bassett

The last time Tom Magnier put his name to a million-dollar Wootton Bassett colt it was this year’s Golden Slipper runner-up Wodeton (2c Wootton Bassett x Fiera Vista, by Exceed and Excel) and at Inglis Easter on Monday he went to $1.4milllion to buy a Wootton Bassett colt from well related import Upfront for $1.4million making him the highest priced yearling for his sire at this sale.

The colt is a half-brother to Group II placed Direct and is the fourth foal of US bred War Front mare Upfront, a half-sister to US Group II winner Aspray and daughter of Group II winning Galileo mare Up, a half-sister to UK and French Group I winner Dutch Art.

"He was always a lovely, scopey Wootton Bassett with a big international pedigree,” said Yarraman Park’s Harry Mitchell.

“We thought Easter was his spot, and we're delighted.

“Team Coolmore purchased the colt to be trained by Chris Waller that gets every chance. Tick, tick, tick .”

Wootton Bassett finished the sale with 12 yearlings selling for an average $527,917.
