$550,000 Home Affairs Filly to Redgum Racing
The second crop of yearlings by Home Affairs were highly sought after at Magic Millions this week with 35 selling for an aggregate $9.8million and his best result on the final day of Book 1 was a lovely filly that sold for $550,000.
John McArdle has had a great run of late with flying filly My Gladiola and he took a shine to another good looking filly bred for speed paying $550,000 for the Home Affairs filly from Real Surreal.
Bred and sold by Cressfield, she is the fifth living foal of slick juvenile Real Surreal, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was also second in the Group II ATC Surround Stakes, a race now upgraded to G1 status.
“She’s a filly that we showed to Paul Johnson, My Gladiola’s owner, she’s a very similar strong, running-looking filly and she’s a November foal so she’s got a lot of developing to do,” said John McArdle.
“She’s just a lovely, athletic filly from a fast family so hopefully she’ll be back running early next year.”
McArdle sees a good omen in her price and is also fast becoming a fan of her sire, who is by My Gladiola’s sire I Am Invincible.
“$550,000 is exactly the same amount we paid for My Gladiola. I think Johnno was going to drop out until he realised, so hopefully lightning strikes twice,” he added.
“I’ve had to run against a few of them (Home Affairs) and they were pretty quick so that’s made me want to come and have a look at a few.”
Home Affairs has sired four winners so far and will have one of the favourites in the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut(1000m) on Saturday in Lady Moscato.
