Holy Roman Emperor Two-Year-Old Outclasses Rivals
Red Autumn (2f Holy Roman Emperor – Afternoon Sunlight, by Sea The Stars) justified strong market support to run out an impressive winner of Thursday’s two-year-old fillies’ maiden at Bellewstown.
Trained by Dermot Weld for owner/breeder Moyglare Stud Farm, the Holy Roman Emperor filly was sent off second favourite on her second start. Racing prominently throughout the mile contest, she led before the two-furlong marker and was ridden a furlong later. Soon in command, she went on to score by five lengths under Chris Hayes.
“I rode her on Friday morning and she worked like a winner,” the winning rider later revealed. “She will probably get a little bit further and she's bred to get further. Her attitude is good, she's very genuine. You have to go chasing black-type when they are in these colours.”
