Justify Colt Wins G3 WA Sires
Talented colt Just Too Fly (2c Justify x Ephemera, by More Than Ready) was rewarded for consistency when breaking through for his first win at Ascot on Saturday in the Group III WATC WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).
Trained by Luke Fernie and ridden by Brad Parnham, Just Too Fly had placed at his three previous starts including a last start second in the Group II WATC Karrakatta Plate and appreciated the longer trip of this assignment.
He scored by half a length and will head to the paddock a stakes-winner with big potential for next season.
“He's always been a quality animal, it's probably taken him a bit longer to work it out than I thought,” Luke Fernie said.
“He's a good colt to deal with, he was tough and courageous today. His ownership group, there are three groups of owners and they're all my best supporters so I'm really happy for them.”
Just Too Fly has the overall record of a win and three placings from four starts and his career earnings to $246,840.
A $210,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Riversdale for his trainer, Just Too Fly was bred by Waratah Thoroughbreds. He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Commander from stakes-placed Ephemera, a half-sister by More Than Ready to Group II winner Running Tall
Just Too Fly is the 43rd stakes-winner Justify, whose champion son City of Troy heads to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $49,500.
Unbeaten Triple Crown winner Justify remains in Kentucky in 2025 and will serve mares to Southern Hemisphere time that will include Australian Group I winner Amelia’s Jewel, who was purchased by Tom Magnier at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this week for $3.8million.
