Star I Am Invincible Mares Join Coolmore Australia Broodmare Band
During a high octane night of trade at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale Coolmore boss Tom Magnier was active at the top of the market purchasing three stunning mares in Amelia’s Jewel, Tiz Invincible and Estriella and also announced the fee for Wootton Bassett.
The reigning Champion European 2YO Sire, Wootton Bassett will be back in Australia this spring at the record breaking fee of $350,000 plus GST.
It’s the highest fee ever set on a sire in Australia and reflects the regard in which he is held in the Northern Hemisphere.
Speaking early in the evening after purchasing Group II winning I Am Invincible mare Tiz Invincible for $2.8million, Magnier made the announcement.
“She's a very good-looking mare, and we’ll be sending her to Wootton Bassett,” he said.
“Obviously, I don't have to explain Wootton Bassett. We're very fortunate to have a stallion like him.
“He's standing at $350,000 this year. We're hopeful now to send our best mares to him and there's been some great inquiries from the best mare owners in the country, so we are locking into the stallion now and we'll hope for a bit of luck.”
Tiz Invincible was sourced originally from Inglis Easter in 2022 for $550,000 by Bahen Bloodstock / Ciaron Maher Racing / Eric Lucas / Astute Bloodstock and proved a top class filly winning the Group II ATC Furious Stakes and Tea Rose Stakes.
She comes with a big pedigree being from from Amuletum (GB), a winning half-sister to Australian Horse of the Year Anamoe.
Her two year-old full brother Navy Pilot is in the Ciaron Maher stable and is heading towards Black Type races in Brisbane.
Magnier also purchased I Am Invincible mare Estriella for $2.8million and she is one of those mares that probably always showed more ability than her race record suggests although a Group II win on the resume and prizemoney of $1.4million is good reading.
Purchased originally at Inglis Easter from Arrowfield by her trainer Ciaron Maher for $750,000, Estriella was raced by Kevin and Vikki Payne.
Estriella is from a family Tom Magnier knows well as her dam Madrigals is a full sister to Coolmore’s Golden Slipper winning sire Pierro.
“Fair play to Ciaron Maher and the team. We saw her in the barn there two days ago, and, you know, the word ‘queen’ kind of comes to mind when you see a mare like her, but all the right people liked her and all the good judges were on her,” Magnier said.
“We've got some very good people that are coming in in these mares with us and they are great supporters of the farm.
“There's an option for her to go back into training and see what she could do up in Queensland, before maybe coming back to the farm for the breeding season, but we'll have a chat with everybody and a chat with Ciaron, but no decision has been made.”
