Wootton Bassett 2YO Debut Winning Double

Wootton Bassett’s star Northern Hemisphere two year-old Albert Einstein (2c Wootton Bassett x Yet, by War Front) has been ruled out of Royal Ascot with a sprained joint that will require a few weeks off, but the red hot sire added two more talented debut winning juvenile colts at The Curragh on Wednesday.

Both colts are Coolmore homebreds trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore with Amadeus Mozart (2c Wootton Bassett x Pendant by Galileo) winning debut at 7f, while Flushing Meadows (2c Wootton Bassett x Hence, by Galileo) kicked off with a victory over 6f.

Amadeus Mozart won on natural talent racing near the pace and kicking on strongly under pressure to win by half a length.

Amadeus Mozart is the first winner from Galileo mare Pendant, a half-sister to Group I winning sprinter Garswood and the runner up Dorset (2c Wootton Bassett x Snowflakes, by Galileo) is from a full sister to four time Group I winner and Champion European 3YO Filly Winter.

Flushing Meadows stepped out over the slightly shorter trip and surged to the line to win by a length and a half running away.

Flushing Meadows is a half-brother to Gasper de Lemos and is the third winner from Group III placed Galileo mare Hence, a full sister to triple Group I winner Alice Springs.

Aidan O’Brien was well pleased with all three colts going forward and while Royal Ascot will come up a bit quickly they are all likely to progress to stakes races this year and all of them are from mares by Galileo which is proving a fruitful nick with Wootton Bassett as you would expect.

Wootton Bassett will be back in Australia this spring at a fee of $385,000.
