Auguste Rodin’s First In-Foal Mares Prove A Hit At Tattersalls

The first mares in foal to dual Derby hero and six-time Group/Grade 1 winner Auguste Rodin caught the attention of many at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale this week, making prices of up to 180,000gns.

They were headed by Baroda Stud’s Angelica Tree, a half-sister to St Leger winner Continuous from the family of Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Maybe and her 2,000 Guineas-winning son Saxon Warrior. Angelica Tree was purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock.

Laundry Cottage Stud was another operation to go to 180,000gns, this time securing Norelands’ black-type producer Bahama Girl. The mare is the dam of Listed Cheshire Oaks scorer Forest Fairy and her page also includes Group 1 Prix Vermeille victress Baltic Baroness.

The Castlebridge Consignment’s Dolphin, a half-sister to Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner and Group producer Thistle Bird, sold to Metin Kalkavan for 110,000gns.

Auguste Rodin covered a strong debut book this year and will commence his second covering season at a fee of €27,500.
