Classy Wootton Bassett Filly Scores At Saint-Cloud

Moon Cloud (3f Wootton Bassett – Sharavana, by Fastnet Rock) produced a smart performance to win Wednesday’s mile maiden for three-year-old fillies at Saint-Cloud.

Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard for Qatar Racing, the Wootton Bassett filly made a promising debut over course and distance last month, and was sent off favourite on her second start. Settled in midfield by Mickael Barzalona, she began to quicken early in the straight and was ridden from the two-furlong pole. Improving into third before the final furlong, she kept on to lead close home and led by three parts of a length on the line.

A step up in class may now be on the cards for Moon Cloud, who holds an entry in the Prix de Diane. She was bred by Ecurie des Monceaux and Lordship Stud out of the unraced Fastnet Rock mare Sharavana.
