Footstepsinthesand Colt Impresses At Leopardstown
Alakazi (3c Footstepsinthesand – Alaiya, by Sea The Stars) emerged as an exciting prospect when impressing on his seasonal return at Leopardstown on Wednesday.
Johnny Murtagh’s charge was the subject of strong market support on his second career start in the mile maiden. Ridden prominently by Ben Coen, the Aga Khan homebred led before the final furlong and drew clear inside the final furlong, going on to score by seven and a half lengths.
The winning trainer commented: “Alakazi has been going very well at home and his work companion ran very well yesterday; we probably have a couple of nice three-year-olds colts this year. We’ll stick him up into a Stakes race the next time and see what he’s made of.”
