Promising Wootton Bassett Colt Returns With A Win
Woodshaw Whisper (3c Wootton Bassett – Lady Corsica, by Galileo) built on a promising debut to justify favouritism on his first start for Ger Lyons on Friday evening.
When trained by Michael Halford and Tracey Collins last season, Michael Enright’s homebred completed a 1-2-3 for Wootton Bassett in a Leopardstown maiden in October and stepped up to an extended 10 furlongs on his three-year-old return. Settled in midfield by Colin Keane, he was pushed along two furlongs out and was driven to lead a furlong later. He kept on well to score by a length and a quarter.
The Wootton Bassett colt is out of an own-sister to Belmont Derby victor Deauville (Galileo).
