Second Group Victory For High-Class Wootton Bassett Filly

Composing (2f Wootton Bassett - Epona Plays, by Australia) completed a Curragh juvenile Group double for her sire when landing the Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes on Saturday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly had won the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown last month and completed her own Pattern-race double with the minimum of fuss under Wayne Lordan.

The pair pulled two-and-a-half lengths clear of Suzie Songs (by Starspangledbanner) and all roads now lead to a tilt at Group 1 company.

O’Brien said: “She’s a lovely filly and Wayne said when she got there, she thought it was over. She’s very straightforward and professional.

“We thought we’d have to make it and we were delighted that Ger’s filly went on. If everything is right, she’ll come back here for the Moyglare.

“She’s so laidback and is the same at home.”
