Smart Wootton Bassett Colt Lands Debut Success

Lyneham (2c Wootton Bassett - Llanita, by Rock Of Gibraltar) became the latest juvenile winner for Wootton Bassett with a debut success at Bordeaux Le Bouscat on Monday.

The Christophe Ferland-trained colt broke smartly under Maxime Guyon and was positioned prominently throughout the mile contest. He showed a determined attitude to win by half-a-length at the line.

Lyneham was continuing the excellent run of form for Wootton Bassett, also the sire of Sunday’s Group 1 Prix du Moulin winner Sahlan from five individual top-level winners so far in 2025.

Wootton Bassett's juvenile winners this year include Group 2 Debutante Stakes and Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes winner Composing, Group 2 Futurity Stakes scorer Constitution River and Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes winner Beautify.

Lyneham was bred by Ecurie La Vallee Martigny.
