Well-Bred Son Of Wootton Bassett Makes Perfect Start
Montpellier (3g Wootton Bassett – Mabs Cross, by Dutch Art) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Thirsk on Saturday.
The James Ferguson-trained newcomer was well-supported in the seven-furlong maiden and raced prominently throughout under Daniel Muscutt. Asserting two furlongs from home, he was ridden clear inside the final furlong and kept on to score by two lengths, with another two and a half lengths back to the favourite in third.
The son of Wootton Bassett is owned and bred by Qatar Bloodstock.
