Well-Regarded Wootton Bassett Juvenile Obliges
Strong market support proved well-founded for Flash Of Fire (2f Wootton Bassett – Lightening Quick, by Frankel), as the well-related juvenile made a winning debut at Doncaster on Wednesday.
James Ferguson’s newcomer was sent off a short-priced favourite for the fillies’ novice stakes over seven furlongs and raced prominently throughout under Oisin Murphy. Asked to quicken two furlongs from home, the bay produced a smart turn of foot entering the final furlong and ran on well to lead close home. The winning margin was three parts of a length, with another length and three quarters back to the third horse.
The daughter of Wootton Bassett is owned and bred by Qatar Racing.
