Wootton Bassett Colt Delivers On Debut
Professor Longhair (3c Wootton Bassett – Tipetena, byCamelot) made a perfect start to his career in Friday’s mile maiden at Dundalk.
Donnacha O’Brien’s newcomer was well-supported ahead of his debut and raced in touch with the leaders for much of the way under Gavin Ryan. Improving to lead before the final furlong, he ran on well to win by two and a quarter lengths.
“He's a beautiful horse,” said the winning trainer. “He's a fine, big, strong horse. He's quite sleepy at home, so I think there is a lot of improvement in him. We'll take him home and see how he comes out of it and make a plan then.”
The promising son of Wootton Bassett is owned by Frank Fahy, who bred the bay at his Gerrardstown House Stud. His dam, a daughter of Camelot, placed at Listed and Group 3 level.
