Wootton Bassett Colt Has All The Answers In Marble Hill
Excitement continues to grow around Albert Einstein (2c Wootton Bassett – Yet, by War Front) after the Ballydoyle juvenile produced another impressive performance at the Curragh on Sunday.
Aidan O’Brien’s charge justified short-priced favouritism on debut with a taking performance at Naas 15 days prior, and was sent off favourite to follow up in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes. Tracking the leaders under Ryan Moore, the bay was forced to delay his challenge behind horses, before switching right approaching the final furlong. The Wootton Bassett colt produced a smart turn of foot to lead inside the final 110 yards and kept on to score by three parts of a length, with the same margin back again to Andab (Saxon Warrior) in third.
“He's a very fast horse,” O’Brien later remarked. “We were hoping it was going to be a fast-run race, which I thought it was, but Ryan said he'd have liked them to have gone even faster. Ryan said they felt like they were only hacking, I don't think you could go fast enough in front of him.
“The lads said he was rated an eight as a yearling and that's as high as the rating goes. He's 540kg, that's a very big horse and he's only a two-year-old. He's been very special in everything he's done.”
“He’s obviously a very talented horse,” Moore added. “He is a very strong colt with a big engine and he's a fast horse. Hopefully he'll learn a bit from today. It was nice to get a lead and teach him and let him think about it a bit more. I was happy with everything he did.”
Owned by Westerberg with Coolmore partners, Albert Einstein was bred by Coolmore out of a Group-placed mare from the family of Giant’s Causeway and Gleneagles.
