Wootton Bassett Colt Steps Up To Secure Group Honours
Nighttime (2c Wootton Bassett - Daytime, by Frankel) landed his first Group victory with a straightforward win in the Prix la Rochette at Longchamp on Thursday.
A Listed winner when capturing the Prix Roland de Chambure at Deauville in July, the son of Wootton Bassett was making it three wins in a row since his debut second at Saint-Cloud in May.
The Christopher Head-trained two-year-old was prominent throughout the seven-furlong contest and never looked like being headed when striking by three-quarters of a length under Maxime Guyon.
He is another juvenile Pattern winner for Wootton Bassett in recent weeks, joining the likes of Group 2 Debutante Stakes winner Composing, Group 2 Futurity Stakes scorer Constitution River and Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes winner Beautify.
A Wertheimer and Frere homebred, Nighttime looks set to contest the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere back at Longchamp next month.
