Wootton Bassett Filly Delivers On Seasonal Return
Beyond Dreams (3f Wootton Bassett – Zouzou, by Redoute’s Choice) showed promise on her sole juvenile start and built on that effort on her seasonal return, winning Tuesday’s fillies maiden at Roscommon.
The Dermot Weld-trained bay was sent off the even-money favourite on her first start since September and raced in touch with the leaders for much of the seven furlong contest. Making headway after turning for home, she was ridden with two furlongs left to race and kept on family to win by half a length under Chris Hayes.
Kris Weld commented: “She’s a lovely filly, just a little bit rusty on her first start of the year. Chris said from a furlong down that he always thought he was going to get there.
“She showed a really good attitude and she’s a lovely, kind filly. She’ll enjoy going a mile.”
The daughter of Wootton Bassett was bred by Coolmore and carries the colours of Michael Tabor.
