Wootton Bassett Filly Lands Cork Success

Two For Joy (3f Wootton Bassett - Laburnum, by Galileo) showed a fine attitude to get off the mark at Cork on Thursday.

The Ballydoyle-trained filly was sent to the front under Jack Cleary and stayed there during the extended mile-and-a-quarter fillies' maiden, denying Tswalu (by Justify) by three-quarters of a length at the line.

Representative Chris Armstrong said: “Wayne rode her in Down Royal where she disappointed the last day and he said to take the blinkers off her and she is far better than that run.

“Jack gave her a lovely ride. She set a solid tempo throughout, and she kept finding when the other filly came to her."

He added: “She’s a big filly and just took time to fill her frame. She could be aimed at something like the Oyster Stakes [at Galway] or even those races in Naas at the backend. If we could get some black type for her it would be an added bonus.”

Two For Joy was bred by Coolmore.
