Wootton Bassett Filly Lands Maiden Success
Mediterannio (3f Wootton Bassett - Silimeri, by Dansili) claimed her first victory with a gritty strike at Fontainebleau on Sunday.
The Francis Henri Graffard-trainee settled midfield in the hands of Louis Bouton and travelled well before being pulled out to score by three-quarters of a length.
White Birch Farm’s daughter of Wootton Bassett is out of a Dansili half-sister to Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac and Prix Saint-Alary heroine Silasol. The filly is herself a half-sister to the Group-placed Inside Matters.
The Ecurie des Monceaux, Skymarc Farm and Lordship Stud-bred Mediterannio was continuing her sire's excellent run of form after he posted a trio of two-year-old winners on Saturday.
They included Wootton Centurion, an impressive six-length winner on debut at Chantilly for trainer Victoria Head and owner-breeder Yeguada Centurion.
