Wootton Bassett Juvenile Rises To Occasion At Newmarket
Rising Power (2c Wootton Bassett – Pussycat Lips, by Holy Roman Emperor) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Newmarket’s Guineas meeting.
Godolphin’s €600,000 yearling buy was partnered by William Buick in the £40,000 novice stakes and raced in touch from the early stages of the five-furlong contest. Quickening with the field from two furlongs out, Charlie Appleby’s charge picked up well entering the final furlong and ran on to score by a neck.
The Wootton Bassett colt was bred by Epona Bloodstock out of the Group-placed Holy Roman Emperor mare Pussycat Lips.
