Daughter Of Idaho Claims First Win Under Rules
Carry On Heidi (5m Idaho - Carry On Walker, by Getaway) landed her first rules win with a straightforward success over hurdles at Clonmel on Thursday.
The Jerry Baragry-trained five-year-old had won two point-to-points earlier this year and was getting off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt.
Ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, the Idaho mare was positioned midfield early on and made headway to take up the lead two flights out. She stayed on well to land the mares maiden hurdle by a length-and-a-half. In third was Katie Daniels (by Walk In The Park).
Baragry said: "She won the Gain Mares Final [in Ballynoe] last year and ran well last month at Kilbeggan, but got a kick below at the start and was knocked out for three weeks. Fair play to her as she is still short of work, but isn't too bad.
“We knew she'd be in the first three today, but Darragh said he was cantering all over them all the time. This is lovely and the farther [in distance] the better. She loves soft ground too so we're hopeful she will go a bit of a way."
Carry On Heidi was bred by Patricia Baragry.
