Exciting Prospect Emerges For Walk In The Park At Auteuil
The Mighty Celt (3c Walk In The Park – Cathmart Desjy, by Maresca Sorrento) shaped like an exciting prospect when making a winning debut in the valuable Prix Rush at Auteuil on Saturday.
Trained by Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm for Mrs Susan Magnier, the Walk In The Park colt was settled towards the back of midfield by James Reveley. Improving to track the leaders from three out, the grey was delivered to lead at the final flight and skipped clear to win by four lengths.
“He's shown a lot of potential,” Noel George later reported. “James [Reveley, jockey] said he was still a little bit babyish, and we'd only taken him for one away day at Maisons-Laffitte before today. He worked very well that day and we think he's among our most forward horses for the spring. James was very happy with him.
“He's still an entire and we'll have to take care not to rush him after his first run, but he behaved beautifully, jumping very well and keeping dead straight. He has a great mind and that's why I ran him in this race. He is tough and talented and I hope he can go up in grade.”
The Prix Rush often produces smart performers, with last year’s race won by Nietsche Has, while previous winners include Pic d’Orhy.
The Mighty Celt was bred by Martin O’Sullivan out of Cathmart Desjy, who also has a two-year-old filly and yearling colt by Walk In The Park.
