Future Looks Bright For Walk In The Park Four-Year-Old
Bud Fox (4g Walk In The Park – Flaviana, by Flemensfirth) backed up his debut win at Belharbour with a smart rules debut in Tuesday’s bumper at the Punchestown Festival.
The John Lenihan-bred bay was sold privately after winning a four-year-old maiden in February for Derek O’Connor, who was back aboard on Tuesday as his graduate made his first start for Gavin Cromwell and owner Owen Daley. Well-supported in the market, he travelled strongly turning for home and led after the two-furlong pole. Ridden approaching the final furlong, he was eased down close home to beat Celestial Tune (Maxios) by four and a quarter lengths.
“His work has always been good at home; he has plenty of gears,” Cromwell later commented. “Derek obviously trained him to win his point-to-point and strongly recommended him. I know they often do but he was mad about this fella and he’s a lovely horse going forward.”
