Idaho Gelding Lands Easy Maiden Win

Quantum Quest (5g Idaho - Blackwater Mist, by Scorpion) landed a first victory over hurdles when scoring decisively at Kilbeggan on Friday.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding was racing over the three-mile-and-one-furlong trip for the first time and duly stepped up to the mark under J J Slevin.

Last seen finishing second at Downpatrick in March, the strapping son of Idaho powered to a four-and-a-half-length success over Reiki Revolution (by Wings Of Eagles).

Slevin said: “It was a good performance, he was entitled to do that.

“He’s probably matured since his break. I rode him out the other morning and he felt a much stronger horse. He was a bit clumsy at one or two, purely because he was idling and looking around him, but it was straightforward.

“Whatever he does over hurdles is a bonus. He’s a big staying chaser and we’ll see where he slots in in time.”
