Impressive Mare Completes Smart Weekend For Walk In The Park
Clondaw Park (4m Walk In The Park – Zamani, by Teofilo) became Walk In The Park’s fourth Irish point-to-point maiden winner of the weekend when impressing in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Lisronagh on Sunday.
Michael Goff’s well-related newcomer made all under Harry Goff and began to draw clear from two out, needing little encouragement to lead by eight lengths on the line.
The exciting prospect is owned by Caitriona Goff and was bred by Mrs Dale Adams.
Best Trump (4g Walk In The Park – Samsha, by Robin Des Pres) gave Walk In The Park a perfect start to the weekend’s point-to-points when running out a clear winner of the four-year-old maiden at Knockanard on Saturday.
Trained and ridden by Derek O’Connor, the J.P. McManus-owned newcomer chased the leaders in the early stages and took closer order from four out. Ridden from the second last, he led at the final fence and was driven out to score by seven and a half lengths.
Bred by Minch Bloodstock, Best Trump is a half-brother to dual Graded winner Gwennie May Boy (Mahler).
Shortly after at Punchestown, Park Blue (5g Walk In The Park – Blue Maxi, by Milan) produced a taking performance to win the five-year-old geldings maiden for Sean Doyle.
He had been sent off favourite on debut in December, but slipped on a bend, and once again headed the market on Saturday. Partnered by Jamie Scallan, he was produced to lead at the third last and looked the likely winner thereafter, keeping on to score by four lengths. The front two finished 12 lengths clear of the remainder.
The son of Walk In The Park was bred by Frank Motherway and John Barry out of a Milan half-sister to Grade 1 performer Franciscan Rock (Fame And Glory).
