Listed Success For Smart Son Of Walk In The Park
Grade 1 performer Down Memory Lane (7g Walk In The Park - Credo Star, by Presenting) landed a deserved first black-type win with victory in the Listed Foxrock Handicap Chase at Navan on Saturday.
The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding had landed a bumper and maiden hurdle in the silks of JP McManus and had also captured a beginners chase at Navan last November, defeating subsequent Grade 3 scorer King Of Kingsfield (by Vadamos) by seven lengths.
Also third in last year’s Grade 1 Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown, Down Memory Lane was adding a second chase score to his name with a length-and-a-half strike under Jack Kennedy.
Elliott said: “He jumped well although missed one, but Jack gave him a great ride. There is only one winning post and he [Kennedy] sat against him the whole way, so it was great.
"He's a good horse on his day, but this is great. I'll talk to Frank [Berry, McManus’ racing manager] and see, but I've no plan."
Down Memory Lane was bred by Cathal Ennis.
