Quality First Foal for Luxembourg
The first foal by multiple Group 1 winner Luxembourg (Camelot) was born at Cleaboy Stud & Coppice Farm when Raffles Monte (Martaline) produced a bay colt. “Right colour, right physical, we couldn’t be happier with him” commented his breeder Sean Gorman.
The colt’s dam Raffles Monte is a half-sister to Grade 3-winning hurdler in France, Raffles Sainte, out of Listed-winning chaser Loxlade and from the family of French Champion Hurdle winner Valporetto. Her first foal, a colt from the first crop of Santiago, was purchased by Glenvale Stud for €46,000 at the 2023 Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale.
A Group 1 winner at two, three, four and five years, Luxembourg’s greatest successes came in the Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster, the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh and the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
