Smart Newcomers Complete Four-Year-Old Double For Walk In The Park
Sunday’s point-to-points began with Walk In The Park siring four-year-old winners in the opening contests at both Castletown-Geoghegan and Dromahane.
At the former meeting, the Garrett Murphy-trained newcomer Myrighthandman (4g Walk In The Park – Cloghoge Lady, by Presenting) justified strong market support in the four-year-old maiden.
Racing prominently throughout under Barry Stone, the favourite fended off a challenge to win by a length, as the front pair finished clear of the remainder. Owned by the Turbine Syndicate and bred by Mr F Whelan, Myrighthandman is a half-brother to multiple Graded winner Westerner Lady (Westerner).
Meanwhile, over at Dromahane, newcomer Fairy Park (4m Walk In The Park – Fairy Hill, by Stowaway) led home a 1-2 for her Grange Stud sire in the four-year-old mares maiden.
Trained by Colin Bowe for Grangeclare Stud, the bay led from three out under Barry O’Neill and went on to win by eight lengths. Cappa Lass (Walk In The Park) claimed runners-up honours, finishing six lengths clear of the third.
Fairy Park was bred by Frank Motherway.
