Son Of Mahler Captures Kim Muir Chase
Daily Present (8g Mahler – Another Present, by Presenting) provided connections with a day to remember when landing the Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Paul Nolan’s raider was settled in midfield by Barry Stone and began to make headway from four out. Improving into second with two to jump, he threw down a challenge at the final fence and stayed on strongly to beat the favourite by a neck. The front pair rallied 11 lengths clear of the rest of the field.
“It’s magical stuff,” said the winning rider, who was celebrating his first Cheltenham success. “I’ve been dreaming of it for years growing up and nothing can top this. This is what dreams are made of. He winged the last and when I landed I knew I just had to keep him up to his work.”
Paul Nolan praised the young jockey, saying: “He was brilliant on him. I definitely thought Johnnywho was coming back, but I knew my lad would stay. In fairness to this lad the last race he won at Down Royal he looked like he was going to be fourth, but he stayed on as if he wanted four miles. We are just so delighted.”
Owned by the DKCR Partnership, Daily Present had previously earned blacktype over fences and had two hurdle wins to his name. Bred by Thistletown Stud, the Mahler gelding gained his first career win in a four-year-old maiden for Mick Goff.
