Son Of Walk In The Park Opens Account Over Fences

Mossy Fen Park (6g Walk In The Park - Msmilan, by Milan) opened his account over fences when running out a comfortable winner at Listowel on Thursday.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained six-year-old was Grade 2-placed as a novice hurdler last year and was following up two placed efforts over fences last winter.

Ridden by Darragh O'Keeffe, the son of Walk In The Park tracked the front runners and moved into second place after jumping three out. The gelding headed the leader approaching the final fence and stayed on to record a two-length success.

O'Keeffe said: "He’s a fine big horse and we’ve always liked him. I won a maiden hurdle on him in Down Royal and he had two good runs over fences last season. He then had a setback but has strengthened up well since and I'm delighted for him to go and do that.

"He hadn't run for a while so I was happy just to follow behind the leaders. We wanted to get into a good rhythm and to see how the race panned out in front of us and it worked out well."

Mossy Fen Park was bred by Michael O'Neill.
