Son Of Walk In The Park Scoops Another Grade 2 Success

Son of reigning Champion Sire Walk In The Park, Master Chewy (8g Walk In The Park x Shake The Tree, by Shantou) returned to winning form in style when landing his second Grade 2 victory in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury on Saturday.

A £300,000 Tattersalls Cheltenham purchase, the James Hoare-bred Master Chewy has Grade 1 form from last year when second to Found A Fifty by just a short head in the Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree.

The Cheltenham festival in March now looks a likely target with trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies highlighting the Gr.1 Ryanair Chase as an option for the Anne-Marie & Jamie Shepperd-owned gelding.

Stablemate Matata (Vadamos) finished in third position and also has Cheltenham in his sights with Twiston-Davies stating "Matata will go for the Champion Chase. He ran his heart out at Windsor, and this probably came a little too soon. We’ve got just over four weeks till the next one and it’s onwards and upwards."
