Walk In The Park Colt Brings €160,000 At Arqana
A two-year-old colt by Walk In The Park proved one of the highlights at the opening session of the Arqana Summer Sale, where he was knocked down to Gerry Aherne for €160,000.
The Channel Consignment offered the bay on behalf of Earl Champ Gignoux, for whom he is the first foal out of Grade 1 winner Statuaire, herself a half-sister to State Man.
After signing the docket, Aherne commented: “We’ve been looking for a while for colts that are as good looking as he is with a pedigree as good as he has. We had to have him.”
The colt will be sent into training with Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm, who were responsible for two smart winners by Walk In The Park earlier this year. Wild Bill Hickok and The Mighty Celt, both owned by Mrs Sue Magnier, each won on debut. The former went on to win a Listed hurdle at Auteuil, while his stablemate placed in a similar contest.
