Walk In The Park Earns Two Champion Titles
The 2024/2025 season, both between the flags and under rules, was one to remember for Walk In The Park. The Grange Stud sire was crowned champion NH sire in Great Britain and Ireland for the second year in a row, and took leading point-to-point sire status for the first time.
With 128 winners to his name, Walk In The Park was clear of runner-up Getaway at 100 winners, with Coolmore NH sires filling the first seven places in that category. His progeny accumulated more than double the prize money of any other sire, that category also dominated by Coolmore NH sires, taking the first five places.
Walk In The Park led the way by black-type winners, black-type performers, Graded winners and Graded horses. In the last three of those categories, his tally was more than double the next best.
Jonbon added three Grade 1 wins to his record during the 2024/2025 season, bringing his total number of top-flight victories to 10. Nick Rockett was another standout performer, his big-race hat-trick bookended by wins in the Thyestes Chase and Aintree Grand National.
Inothewayurthinkin added the Cheltenham Gold Cup to Walk In The Park’s CV, while Grade 1 heroine Aurora Vega was a sales highlight at €450,000
Of his younger horses, Final Demand was a hugely exciting novice hurdler, winning a pair of Grade 1s by a combined 28 lengths, while game novice chaser Croke Park recorded back-to-back Grade 1 wins.
The 2025/2026 season looks hugely exciting for Walk In The Park, judging by what his progeny achieved in Irish point-to-points in the season just gone. He sired the highest number of four-year-old maiden winners and topped the sires’ table overall with the highest number of winners since records began.
Highlights included four-year-old filly Clondaw Park, who bolted up by eight lengths on debut, before selling for £320,000. Heron In Park also impressed on debut, bringing her value to £280,000, and she followed up in a Class 2 bumper at Newbury.
