
Walk In The Park Gelding Captures Valuable Chase
Resplendent Grey (7g Walk In The Park – Caltra Princess, by Traditionally) provided connections with a valuable prize when landing Saturday’s bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown.
Olly Murphy’s charge was sent off second favourite for the Grade 3 chase worth £175,000 and raced prominently throughout the three-and-a-half-mile contest under Sean Bowen. Shaken up turning for home, he was ridden from the second last and kept on gamely to lead close home, asserting by a length on the line.
“Resplendent Grey is a horse full of ability,” said the winning rider, while Olly Murphy commented:“He got an absolute exhibition off Sean. He got into a way better rhythm and came home strong. That's a good way to win a big one.”
Saturday marked a sixth career success for Resplendent Grey, who carries the colours of Mrs RJ Skan. Bred by Ms M Kavanagh, the son of Walk In The Park previously placed at Grade 2 level over hurdles and fences.
