Walk In The Park Gelding Eases Clear In Grade 2 Chase
The Changing Man (8g Walk In The Park – Bitofapuzzle, by Tamure) gained a deserved blacktype success in Saturday’s Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot.
A close second on his last three starts in Grade 3 chases, Joe Tizzard’s charge was well-supported ahead of the three-mile chase and made all of the running under Brendan Powell. The bay boasted a clear advantage with four fences to jump and went on to score by 24 lengths, unchallenged.
“He absolutely deserved a big one,” said the winning trainer. “I don't know what he beat in the end but he couldn't have done it more impressively. It's a novice chase and you've got to jump around, so I'm delighted he's having his day."
Tizzard noted the Brown Advisory Chase and Ultima Handicap Chase as potential targets for his charge, saying: “He'll have an entry in both and we'll see but if the Brown Advisory cut up, we might take our chance.”
Bred by O’Sullivan Bloodstock, The Changing Man adds to three wins over hurdles for owners Susan and John Waterworth. The son of Walk In The Park was bought by his trainer with Peter and Ross Doyle at the Goffs UK Summer Store Sale for £135,000
