Monbeg Park (Walk In The Park) Wins The Listed Chase At Leopardstown

Walk In The Park Gelding Gains Deserved Blacktype Win

Monbeg Park (8g Walk In The Park – Cyrclone’s Sister, by Stowaway) gained a deserved black-type success on Sunday to complete a smart double for Walk In The Park under rules, while the Grange Stud stallion sired two maiden winners between the flags.

Placed in Grade 3 chases on his last three starts, the Sean Doyle-trained bay was sent off favourite for the Listed chase at Leopardstown and raced in midfield for much of the way under Tiernan Power-Roche. Pushed along from two out, he improved to lead before the final fence and ran on well to score by two and a half lengths.

“He jumped very well and travelled a lot better today,” the winning rider reported. “He quickened up well and had a bit left up his sleeve. He has loads of ability.”

The Donnchadh Doyle-owned and Grange Stud-bred eight-year-old is now twice successful over fences, twice over hurdles, once in a bumper and once between the flags.

Later that afternoon, Mydaddypaddy (4g Walk In The Park – Debdebdeb, by Teofilo) bolted up on debut in the bumper at Huntingdon.

Trained by Dan Skelton for owner/breeder Dermot Hanafin, the four-year-old was sent off favourite under Harry Skelton and raced towards the back of the field for much of the two-mile contest. Making headway down the back straight, he eased into contention from three out and led before the two-furlong marker. Soon clear, he went on to score by 11 lengths.
