Walk In The Park Gelding Lands Deserved First Graded Win

Firefox (7g Walk In The Park - Cuteasafox, by Vinnie Roe) gained a deserved first Graded victory when landing the Kildress Plumbing Chase at Down Royal on Saturday.

The consistent Gordon Elliott gelding has won and been Grade 1-placed over hurdles and fences, including when second in the Fairyhouse Gold Cup in April.

Ridden by Jack Kennedy, Firefox was positioned in third and went into second with two fences left to jump. He took up the lead before the last to win by a comfortable four and a quarter lengths.

Elliott said: “In fairness, he'd been competing at the top end the whole time, but a good performance. I thought Jack gave him a very, very good ride and just landed him there at the right time.

"He's a good horse, but the problem is you're taking on those real good horses the whole time."
