Walk In The Park Gelding Lands Galway Bumper
Frankie John (5g Walk In The Park – The Crown Jewel, by Stowaway) provided connections with a memorable win when landing Thursday’s bumper at the Galway Festival.
Denis Hogan’s charge emerged as a smart prospect when winning a four-year-old maiden at Boulta on debut and subsequently shaped with promise on both his starts under rules. Partnered by Harry Swan at Galway, the grey raced prominently and was asked to quicken when holding the advantage approaching the turn for home. Ridden on the turn-in, he stayed on well to score by two and a half lengths, with another two and a half lengths back to the third.
Bought by his trainer at the Derby Sale for €115,000, Frankie John is owned by Hogan’s parents with John Mahon. The son of Walk In The Park was bred by Mrs EM Motherway out of The Crown Jewel, whose Crystal Ocean three-year-old sold for €60,000 last summer.
