Walk In The Park Mare Earns Listed Target
Mustang Betty (6m Walk In The Park – Betty Roe, by Vinnie Roe) will aim for black-type next after running out a stylish winner of the mares’ bumper at Wincanton on Thursday.
The Toby Lawes-trained mare had shown promise on both her previous starts and tackled heavy ground for the first time on her third career start. Pushed along approaching the two-furlong marker, she ran on well to beat the favourite by three and a half lengths
“I've always adored her and she's a really talented mare,” the winning trainer commented. “When I saw they had given her a couple of easy lengths up front, I thought she would be difficult to catch. We'll aim for the Listed bumper at Sandown. She's a big galloper and will be a staying chaser in time.”
Mustang Betty is owned by Andrew McGladdery, having been bought by Highflyer Bloodstock at the Goffs Land Rover Sale for €80,000. The daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Minch Bloodstock and AV Bloodstock.
