Walk In The Park Mare Opens Account With Debut Hurdling Win
Walks The Talk (6m Walk In The Park - Ballyknock Hill, by Indian Danehill) made a successful debut over hurdles when easily winning at Roscommon on Monday.
The mare had run out a nine-length winner of her sole point-to-point for Ellen Doyle at Dromahane last November and had run well in three bumper starts for John McConnell.
Ridden by Alex Harvey, Walks The Talk made all and came home to win by five-and-a-half-lengths, with fellow Walk In The Park mare Music Of Life in second.
Harvey said: “We quite liked her at home and thought she was always going to be a nice hurdler.
“It’s a shame she didn’t win her bumper, we thought she might have during the summer. Hurdling is her game, especially coming out of James and Ellen Doyles’ as they're very well schooled.
“I was able to buck her out there and keep things simple. She did things right there which is the main thing and hopefully it’s onwards and upwards from here
“It was a good run and she’s a good mare. They paid a few quid for her so she’d every right to do that.”
