Walk In The Park Mare Picks Up Black-Type Win Over Hurdles
Dream On Baby (5m Walk In The Park - Dreambaby, by Yeats) captured her first black-type win when readily landing the Listed mares’ hurdle at Kempton on Monday.
The Emmet Mullins-trained five-year-old had won a Thurles maiden hurdle last November and has produced some fine efforts in defeat since, including when second in the Grade 3 Solerina Mares Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse in January.
Ridden by Donagh Meyler, Dream On Baby made virtually all before increasing the tempo two flights out. She stayed on strongly up the run-in to win by a length and three-quarters over Bethpage (by Getaway).
Mullins said: “It’s brilliant and she’s a mare that has been very consistent and knocking on the door on both the Flat and over hurdles.
“This had been the plan for about a month, but before that we had been trying to pick up a Flat maiden with her and kept bumping into a few nice horses. She’s tough and honest and deserved that.
“I haven’t overly looked past today but she might come over again for something similar, we’ll have to go home and reassess. You’d be hopeful she could keep improving, but I don’t want to get too carried away as this is a great day and we’re just glad to get this win under our belts.”
