Walk In The Park Mares Impress On Debut

Chosen Comrade (4m Walk In The Park – Timetostowaway, by Stowaway) emerged as a smart prospect when making a perfect start to her career at Borris House on Sunday afternoon.

Trained by Gary Murphy for the Turbine Syndicate, she was one of nine runners in the first division of the four-year-old mares’ maiden. The bay led at the end of the back straight and quickened well when challenged by Shukran Habibti (Maxios), going on to win by a length and a half under Barry Stone.

The daughter of Walk In The Park was bred by Francis Whelan out of a homebred half-sister to multiple graded chase winner Westerner Lady (Westerner).

Shortly after at Bandon, Walking In Mayo (5m Walk In The Park – Katiebyrne, by St Jovite) proved a class above her rivals in the mares’ maiden for five-year-olds and upwards.

The Damian Murphy-trained newcomer began to make headway from two out and led before the final fence, before easing 15 lengths clear under Cal Shine. Owned by Alberta Capital Ltd, Walking In Mayo was bred by Grove View Stud Ltd out of a half-sister to Grade 2 scorer Keeper Hill (Westerner).
