Walk In The Park’s Resplendent Grey Takes Listed Win At Carlisle

Resplendent Grey (7g Walk In The Park - Caltra Princess, by Traditionally) returned to action with a gritty win in the Listed Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase at Carlisle on Sunday.

Trained by Olly Murphy, the gelding had last been seen winning the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown and he was adding another smart victory to his CV with a three-quarter-length score.

Ridden by Sean Bowen, the son of Walk In The Park was positioned prominently and came to challenge up the run-in to deny last season's Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase winner Handstands (by Getaway).

Murphy said: "I thought it was a good performance as we left the headgear off, he was running over an inadequate trip and they didn’t go very quick.

“The favourite looked like he didn’t really enjoy being in front, he wasn’t at his best first time out last year and he probably wasn’t today, but my lad is a very, very good horse.

"We’ll see how he comes out of it, but he’ll probably go straight to Newbury [for the Coral Gold Cup]."

Walk In The Park’s fine run of form continues as he’s been represented by this week's emphatic Wexford beginners chase scorer Fleur In The Park, as well as today’s Rathcannon geldings maiden winner Beau Walking.

Resplendent Grey was bred by Ms M Kavanagh.
