$1.4 Million Colt Leads Justify Offerings at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

A Justify half-brother to Grade I Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprinter Caravel led the way for his sire at this year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale when sold for $1.4 million.

Purchased by Qatar Racing from Hunter Valley Farm, the Elizabeth Merryman-bred is also a half-brother to six-time stakes winner Witty with dam Zeezee Zoomzoom producing five winners from six to race. A winning Congrats mare, Zeezee Zoomzoom is out of the stakes winning Zee Zee, who was also third in a Grade II.

Season Ticket is the dam of a $700,000 colt purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners from Brookdale.

Bred by Yulong Investments, the colt is bred on the same Justify x Galileo cross that produced dual champion City of Troy and recent Group I winner Scandinavia. His dam is out of successful broodmare Life Happened, whose runners include dual champion Tepin, multiple Grade II winner Vyjack, and Grade II-placed Prime Cut.

Tepin is the dam of two Group I winners in Grateful and recent Group I Coral Eclipse winner Delacroix. This family also includes Grade III winner Disco Rico and stakes winner Cap Classique among others.

Justify’s five sold at the sale averaged $635,000 with a $400,000 median with no Justify selling for under $300,000.
